My tv has a couple years of use. now only have a line in the middle, no image above and under the line. need solution to fix either change the vertical or welding or wire disfonction?? maybe a schema diagram would also be needed.

Re: image flat line
Vertical sweep failure.
It will be an I.C. with a part number that probably starts with an LA_
_ _ _ and be on a heat sink in the vicinity of the connector
going up to the yoke. Try replacing that. But first, check
all the electrolytic caps around it for testing dry (sorry - takes a
special meter to do it in circuit) or just replace them. May have
lost power to the I.C. as well. Look the I.C. up in the
free NTE crossreference at nte.com get a diagram of its pinout to find
what pins the power and outputs are on.
Hope ya fix it!

The image on a CRT TV is produced by a beam of electrons which is controlled by a magnetic field to move the beam top to bottom and left to right. A single line suggests that the vertical deflection is working but not the horizontal deflection (left to right). There are a number of components associated with this and requires a competent TV repair engineer to fix. Better to to buy a new TV!
You have a vertical output IC that needs repaired. You may need to only resolder the vertical output IC. If then you do resolder, you will need to check and replace any capacitor in the immediate area of the vertical IC. A weak or bad capacitor will heat up the IC, and create rings on the pins under the IC. Also check the solder grounds on any resistor and diode that are immediately near this IC. This will bring your TV back to full view. Thanks for asking and show a few hands of support!
This is cauced by a collaspe of the vertical output circuit. Normally a relatively easy/quick fix by a skilled repair tech. If you have a nice quality set that is less than 7 years old, it might be worth fixing, otherwise, you might want to consider getting a new one.
Give a call to a local service shop and tell them what TV you have and the problem and see what they provide for an estimate to repair, it might be worth doing and it might make your decision easier to go buy a new one.
A set that has only a 1/2 inch bright line through the middle of the picture, from left to right, has a vertical output IC that is not working correctly. If the 1/2 inch line is in the middle but going up and down, then the horizontal yoke circuit has stopped working. These are problems which should be looked at by a qualified tech, but if the set was purchased 6 months ago then it should still be under the manufacturer's warranty.
Your whole problem my freind is dryed up capacitors. You should go, if you have the technical ability to replace these capacitors, to http://servicemanuals.net, download the schematic diagram, and start replacing the waveshaper capacitors in the vertical drive circuit.
