Resolution problem

posted by jack_in_SM on Jan 02, 2008

my windows machine has a win98se, nvidia Geforce 4 mx400.  I just
recently purchased a 19" planar PL1910M lcd monitor.  I am having
trouble setting the  resolution on the windows machine.  the resolution
was originally set for an old 17" viewsonic vg175 lcd monitor.  the
screen goes black after reboot when the resolution is set at 1024X768.
I am trying to get it set at 1280X1024 resolution.
I recently purchased a Vison 19" TFT LCD Monitor (V1923DB). My Dell Laptop recognizes it as Plug and Play, and sets the max resolution at 1024x768, even though the monitor itself is supposed to be SXGA 1280x1024... I tried using the generic 1280x1024 SVGA driver, but when I changed it to 1280x1024, my computer told me that I was unable to do this, and reset to 1024x768... any assistance extremely welcome.
