But this is not a Windows' problem is it? Because Gateway did not want to
certify the digital camera (getting their camera drivers signed), why is
this Windows' fault? The purpose of the signature is help guarantee to the
user/computer purchaser that the device will work as expected and
advertised. Your jaw would drop if you really knew how many unsigned drivers
there are out there in the world that will blue screen or damage your
computer.

The signature file checking is in place to help the user and help coax
manufacturers to write their driver's correctly. In this particular case,
you should have be warned that the driver was not signed. All you have to do
is press the Continue button and the driver will install anyways. The
warning is there to tell you this un-signed driver may fail.
