This is a digital camcorder, and not a digital camera (Hitachi DZ-HV 575E).
Although it can take still pictures, its primary focus is on taking video.
Most camcorders today do not include a built-in high-intensity light. If you need to take video in dark conditions, then you'll need to buy a separate light source designed for video production.
That same light source should work for your still images as well.

Hi.i m central excise and service tax inspector.i purchased nikkon coolpix s3000 on 04.05.2010 from chennai. today i chkd n found one black spot on the screen some whitish linings like on the screen...

why are you so worried, if it is a genuine nikon purchase it is still under warrant, problem becomes sever if you have dropped the camera or some water has entered the unit.
i beleive chennai has a nikon authorised service centre.

Canon power shot sd1000 black dot on lens

If by saying the upper right corner of the lens you really mean that there is a dark spot on each image AND the rear display, there may be dirt or dust on the lens itself. Clean the lens with an optical quality cleaner. Do not use paper towels and Windex or the like - as paper towels can scratch the lens.

It is also possible that the dark spot is a "stuck pixel" on the image sensor inside the camera. There is no way to repair a stuck pixel outside of replacing the sensor. Any dark spot (regardless of source) can be edited out by using image editing software. This will allow you to to make the dark spot less noticeable - or practically invisible.

If the dark spot is on the rear display only, it can also be a result of a "stuck pixel" on the display itself. This should not show up an images, but only on the display. There is little that can be done outside of replacing the entire rear screen.

There are other things that can cause these problems, but those listed above are the most common.

I hope this was Very Helpful and good luck!

Can I take black and white pictures with my Panasonic DMC-FX12

Probably not; it is an uncommon wish today.
But, any editing software I have ever seen allows you to change color saturation or intensity and these can be reduced to 0, yielding your B&W.
If you don't have any editing software (last person on the planet? ;-) ), I recommend Irfanview, a freeware package (donations appreciated) that is easy to use and well-supported and gets better with each version:

Im trying to take a photo of a black top but it keeps coming out grey, there is also a white blur round the edge of the top

Might be the wrong camera to take a professional shot with. The white balance is being read from the surrounding envionment so tends to lighten the intensity of the contrast. You may be able to alter the intensity on the PC in a pohotoshop program.. SATURATION, HUE, COLOR BALANCE option. You cannot generally get an intense black on screen of cheap camera in daylight or even using flash. The camera is designed to give an average overall metering through the lens.

Higher quality cameras let you alter the Kelvins ( temperature) of the shot to improve on contrast etc. They also have spot metering, which is a series of boxes seen through the viewfinder that can be programed to allow for depth of field focus and contrast metering.

So if you dont have a better camera then use a photo manipulating program to change the picture to your liking
