I have a 15 year old Craftmen Belt Sander that keeps braking belts. Runs for 5 minutes then the belt brakes. Replaced with new platen and still the having the same problem.

by belts you mean the sanding belt, if so are the belts you are using directional? Also look at the front drum to ensure free rotation and then look for a burr on the inside of the housing that might be catching the belt. Let me know and I will try and help
