Question about Washing Machines
My washer will not agitate or spin but will run through the cycle (filling with water and draining). I have ruled out the speed controller and timer (new). The motor does not run when the belt is off and electricity is applied.
The door lock assembly makes a low level buzzing noise after the door is closed and the washer starts. However this noise has been going on for about a year before the washer stopped agitating and spinning. The door lock light comes on and the door locks. I have tried to slightly push on the door to get a better connection but it does not change anything.
The motor was removed and taken to a service place where it was tested for continuity and seemed to check out. It was set on the counter and the tech connected the aligator clips and turned the pulley manually and checked the ohms.

Sounds like very worn motor brushes to me, as its trying to turn the drum but has'nt the power needed to maintain any momentum, and the blinking door light is because of the bad cotact from brushes to motor.About £20 for a set of brushes or get an engineer to fit new brushes, but get a price first.
