Subwoofer jack not working

It seems my Subwoofer jack from my reciever is not working. I have hooked up my sub to another port and it will play audio which means the sub itself is fine. It seems there is a problem with the output itself.

Any suggestions?

Try using another cable. Such as a spare Component cable. As a general rule if the cable is large in diameter it will do the job. You dont have to buy a Woofer cable specifically, as stated above a Component cable will be more than enough.

I can't get my reciever to play my subwoofer

The sub channel will be switched off. You need to find the speaker settings, locate the sub channel settings and switch it on.

My celestion s20 subwoofer won't play if i hook it up to sub out on receiver.but will play if i run a regular speaker wire to it. I know sub out is working on receiver.

Tell your source (receiver???) that it has a sub and set it up to feed LFE out of that RCA jack.

Prove your sub pre-out works. Or send something like FM on Tape Out to the sub and see how that works out.

How did you hook a speaker wire to this model of powered sub? What was on the other end of that speaker wire? It's not designed for speaker level input.

Can I hook the reciever to mm bose subwoofer and 5

if bose unit has built in amplifier .Then your sherwood would have to have a variable RCA output jacks in order to work with sub. Then bose audio input RCA cable would connect there. If bose unit does not have built in amp .Then you would connect sherwood left/right speaker outputs into bose left/right inputs .Then other bose speakers will connect to bose unit

Sub doesnt do anything while plugged in ( Sunfire mk II)

Some subwoofers can sense the signal on their input and will only start when there's enough signal for long enough time for them to turn on the amp.

Try seting the "subwoofer signal out" on your reciever a bit higher, see if it does the trick, if not, try it with some other source (e.g. an mp3 or CD/DVD player) plugged directly into the subwoofer. If it still doesn't work, there's some other problem with your sub (bad connection inside sub, sub amplifier problems, maybe there's another fuse for the speaker itself, try to check it out).

If it works well with an alternate signal source, the problem might be either in reciever or the signal cable that you use, but could also be something else.

good luck

Too much bass...low end

Hi, have you tried adjusting the "subwoofer level", and or the "subwoofer cut" controls? Every sub I have ever seen has at least the level control on the back. The "cut or crossover" control determines the frequency at which the sub will start to respond. Additionally, you may need to access the appropriate menu on you reciever and adjust the "low frequency effects" (LFE) output level (assuming you have connected your sub to the reciever's sub output jack.

Hope this helps.

Denon / MK Sub Hookup

you can do this one of two ways, you can use just the left "mono" on your sub or use a y connector. If the sub doesn't show the left as mono then YES you need a y cable
