Hi there I have a pentium 4, with winxp installed. I am trying to use my Gateway DC-T20 with Netmeeting, but I can't seem to get it to work. Every time I start the video my computer restarts with no prompting, is there some solution for this problem gateway is of no help they say that my camera isn't connected to the usb port. I am no bill gates but I think I can tell when something is pluged in. Any help would be great! thnaks.
well that is a good point but have disabled the winxp firewall, and the one firewall I do have I have set up to allow netmeeting conversations. I was not able to use the pc cam function at all not even with the viedo creation softwere that came with the camera, and that doesn't ave any thing to do with accessing the net, that I know of. I was thinking it might of been a hardwere problem. But I am not all too sure. In any case it works great dor downloading pictures just a terrible pc cam, but if anyone can help I would be thankful I don't like it when things don't work right. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307554&Produc...

Yes I connect via cable. And I don't know if this means anything but the gateway rep I spoke with made sure to tell me it is NOT a web cam it IS a pc cam. I really don't know why they felt it was nessessary to tell me that over and over. But maybe it will help you if you know that. Should I disable my nic card would that help? it sort of makes the camera usless through netmeeting but I would like to use it to make some recording of my bird so if I can do at least that I would be happy.

well hmm I tried disabling and even uninstalling my nic card (no modem on my pc) and it still shut down so I think I will go to a gateway store and see what they have to say. I'm sure it's one of the unsolvable problems that turn up from time to time and it's no big thing I was thinking about buying a web cam anyway. Thanks for your help though it was nice of you. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;295745&Produc...

I know very little about web cams, but we do have one and had a heck of a time getting it to work until we went into the device manager and disabled the modem. We assumed it was looking for the dial-up. According to the Gateway site, it is a pc camera with a movie mode.
