I have the sony cybershot dsc-w80 camera and when I switch it on, the lens zooms in and out twice, then an error message appears saying "Turn the power off and on again". When I switch on and off again the same problem occurs. I have tried switiching on and off at least a dozen times but the same error message appears. How can this be fixed?
I just tried the same thing as a last resort (knocking my camera on the table) with my DSW-100 and it actually worked! My camera has not been working for two weeks because it keeps turning itself on and off with the same error message. I can't believe that actually worked.

Hi Lewis,
The problem emanated when the camera was roaming free in my handbag probably getting squashed under numerous objects including my Nintendo.
Yesterday, I fixed the problem by..and I don't recommend anyone else try this....banging it gently on my desk! It worked first time after that. I think something was jammed in it and by gently knocking the camera it fixed itself.
It worked for me!
Thanks anyway - I probably wouldn't have bought another battery and would have rather spent the money on a new camera so I wasn't too concerned about knocking my camera into shape. I do not advise this unless you don't mind taking the risk that it could make the problem worse!
