Question about Brother MFC-8440 All-In-One Laser Printer
Brother MFC8440 I had 2 of these - one for home one for office. One is broken and too costly to repair. However - the automatic document feeder works best on the machine that has broken (on the other the wheels do not grab the paper properly, put more than one sheet thru' at a time or not straight).
My question is - is it simple to transfer the top document feeder from one machine to the other? They are identical models.
How do I do this....step-by-step instructions would be appreciated.
On one rear corner is a cover held on by one screw, this opens up the compartment that has all the connections from top unit to bottom, there are scewered in earth cables about 8 plugs, two ribbon cables, all need to be removed, some go on to a board hidden by a h shaped plate, so unscrew that as well, some also go to a larger board below corner, side of machine slides back, to reveal another metal box that two more screws to open.
Once all cables are detached and you noticed which one went where, take pics! Two screws come off the posts that secure adf to scanner then whole unit slides up and off.
Becarefull to get all cables reattached and in correct sockets
If you just go for it and pull apart the wrecked machine and reomve its adf then you know you are ok to attack the good one
