RCA HD56w66 turns on and off three times...

RCA HD56w66 turns on and off three times... replaced cap 114 120 and 150 turned on tv it turned on and off and then popped cap 120. What can i do?

- you were absolutly right the polarity was backwards on cap 120...now it turns on and off three times and a chirp sound is coming from back of deflection board. any suggestions?Nov 03, 2009
- thanks i located the (HOT) is it possible that my flyback is still good or would the HOT of taken the flyback with it?Best Solution

Was cp120 installed with the correct polarity? Also was the microfarads the same as the original? Voltages can be higher but the Microfarad (uf) rating has to be exactly the same.

- It may possibly be that the HOT has shorted due to the CP120 reversed polarity. The hot is the 2SC5588 transistor mounted on the large heat sink directly in front of the FlybackNov 03, 2009
- Its very possible that the Flyback is defective, As the ITC 222 series are famous for the failed caps and also the flybacks and HV splitters being prone to failure . The Hot can be checked with a ohms meter if removed from ciruit for testing. The flybacks and HV splitters are available for those models. But often its usually cheaper to have your deflection board rebuilt since new replacments arent available. Rebuilt boards solve the issue and are guaranteed for up to six months from most rebuilders.Yes
