Camcorder works great with exception of sound. Recorded sound is very muzzled.

Check the tape to see if it has a rolled edge on the bottom this is where where the sound is recorded or the tape path may need a cleaning.

Try cleaning the heads, but it seems like the heads may be faulty, you might need to replace the vcr, they don't cost much these days, the repair might cost more than a new vcr these days.

heres a cheap headcleaner, look for one at local shops, wallmart bestbuy and so on

I bought a panasonic cassette adaptor for my vhs-c tapes . it says svhs adaptor on the front of the box .will the ordinary vhs-c tapes fit in it and does the door open on the front or is it loaded from the...

You don't specify the adapter you have, but most load from the top. The main thing here is that VHS and VHS-C are both the same size of tape. Whether they are recorded in SVHS mode or not will not affect the adapter, just whether or not you get a picture. Theadapter only allows you to put a compact cassette (VHS-C) into a standard VHS VCR. The adapter will require batteries to allow it to place the VHS-C cassette tape into the proper position for use in the VCR.

The tapes In my Panasonic PV-GS14 are stuck and won't run

you cannot move the spindles/cogs in a mini dv tape without pressing down a small lever on the rear of the cassette.
the lever is in the lower right, move the lever, then move the ribbon protector to the open position, then spin the cogs, the tape should be free.
if not, then you have a jamm inside the cassette, you can open these casettes by removing 4 small screws. ( this is a very fiddly job & you may ruin the casette, if you dont know how )

If pictures are rolling during normal playback, just check one thing first. Open the Cassette flap and see the condition of the tape. Is it chewed and stretched at the bottom? If yes, the problem is a worn Capstan / Pinch roller in the VCR. It is cheweing up the lower edge of the tape, and therefore the VCR is not able to process the 'Control Track.
All you need to do is replace the Capstan / Pinch roller. It is a big (approximately 1 inch high by 1/2 inch wide Black Rubber roller inside the VCR. REPLACE. Problem will be solved.

Hi,
Do you put a tape in when you try to record or do you connect to a DVD / VCR so that it records onto the DVD or VHS?
If this is how you do it, then I will recommend you use a mini DV tape instead.
Hope this helps.
