Hello, this is a response from
Brady's technical support team. Please try this:
The three contact pins in the printer are not
making contact with the smart cell computer chip (the shiny silver pad at the
bottom of each cartridge). The occurs after the printer is dropped or after
shoving cartridges in at an angle.
To remedy, remove the cartridge and look at the bottom of the
cartridge opening (just above the Power button). Take tweezers or needle nose
pliers and pull slightly on the pins (outward, and towards you). Please
double-click and View the file below for a picture of the pins. Once these
metal contacts are out far enough to make contact with the smart cell (computer chip) on
the label/ribbon cartridge, the printer will know that labels are loaded.
In addition to the Insert Labels error, contacts
that get pushed in can result in two other issues:
One, the printer will only print if the cartridge is pushed down (which makes the smart cell touch the contacts).
Two, if one or two, but not all three, contacts
are not all the way out, the printer may only print on half of the labels
(because it is only reading some of the silver bars on the cartridge's computer
chip, and narrow media activates only one or two bars, where as wide media
activates all three).
We'd be happy to help you directly if needed. Brady
