This is common problem among kitchenaid mixers. If you are hearing no motor sound what so ever, The likely cause is the carbon brushes are worn or gone completely, and will need to replaced, they are located at the left and right sides of the unit and only fit ONE way. part number for both brushes is W10260958 and comes one in a package. These are a wearable part and when gone will not create an electrical field for the motor to run. If however these are visually OK, the next probable cause of this will be the motor control board, this can cause a great deal of electrical burning smell when it goes. part number for the board is W10119326. The board can be replaced but does require some know how of the unit.Hope this helps

The kitchenaid ice cream maker drive assembly does not fit on to my mixer because of a metal disk below the spring on the beater shaft. Is there a way of removing this disk and is it needed?
