Re: user password for windows xp pro

You can't change the password or even break the security
still try this
but Administrator as user name and
dont put any password

if this doesn't work then u might have to format the drive using a bootable windows cd

Start the PC and and enter into save mode. TO enter in save mode watch when it boots and look for what to enter to get into the save mode. For Dell it is F8. Once you get into save mode, go to control panel, go to user account and remove the password or reset it. Thanks

I forgot my password to login to windows XP Pro on my personal laptop. How can I bypass it?

First try is to hold down CTRL + ALT + DEL and try typing in as the user "Administrator" with no password, if this does not work do not worry, it only works on half the systems anyway. Of course the next try is rebooting into safe mode by pressing F8 during the boot but before the windows screen, when it loads up safe mode it actually gives you an administrator option as a login, usually works. The last and third way is to actually use the windows xp operating system disc and boot to it and run a windows repair, suggest talking to a technician if you do this one. Once you get into windows just go to control panel from the start menu and open up user accounts and then access the account that needs the password to be changed and change it.

How to recover forgotten admin password for windows xp ?

Option 1: If the user you have is an administrator account, go to the control panel and select user accounts. When you are in user accounts, find the account you want to remove the password from and you will see the option there.

Option 2: If your user is NOT administrative, you can use ERD commander to reset it. You basically burn ERD onto a CD and it will boot when you restart. There is a program called Locksmith that will remove or change the password for you.

Bought a used pc, do not have password for windows log-on. cannot get to bios, no boot up cd. what now?

Most XP machines have a built in administrator account that normally does not have a password.

You can try pressing F8 before Windows starts up to go into the XP bootup menu.

Choose Safe mode

Once into safe mode you should either see an 'Administrator' account listed, or just type in Administrator and do not type a password. If that works, go to Start-->Control Panel-->User Accounts. From there you can create a new user account for you to use with administrative privileges.

If that doesn't work, try downloading a password reset utility, such as the one at

Hope this helps

XP password problem

hey, its better to setup a password for the account vs not haveing one, the limitation for now allowing to login with no password on command prompt was added becouse a hacker could easyly take over a pc which didnt have a administrative password set up.

To set up the password in commant prompt type
net user Administrator *

Net user <username> * command changes the user password.

How i can reset xp login password

when you first power up the pc emediatly press f8 rapidly and dont stop until you get to a black screen that says somthing like safe mode safe mode with networking and so on and so forth any ways use the up and down keys to select safe mode and press enter it will go to a screen where writing in white flashes up the screen for a instance and then boot windows know if its home just select administrater it shouldent be protected by a password so no wories if its pro type administrater and press enter dont wory about the password if you get a message that says wrong user name or password check the speeling if that fails your screwed if it works you will enter the adminitrater account click yes on the diologue thats jumps up and go to start/control pannel/user accounts/select the profile you are trying to unblock and hit delete password now restart and enter the profile note take note of the account name before restarting cause on xp pro you need to change the user name back from admin then go to user profiles and change the password back to what ever you want if this doesent work post a new comment on the page and discribe the situation and ill provide an alternate method
