It won't print and when I lift the lid, the color cartridge moves and points to the frown face. What does this mean?

- Nope, it means it wasn't seated properly. The error came after I installed a new cartridge. When it's empty it points to the water line. Thanks for trying. After many pages on HP web site I found the answer.

Appears to be a mechanical problem. When the printer is turned on cartridges only move 25mm along runner, then return. There is a whirring sound and the process repeats a few times before finally parking and orange light remains on. It is not possible test the printer by removing the cartridges also there is no paper jammed in the printer. Obliged for any assistance anyone can give.

HP 970 Cxi will not pick up paper from the tray or picks up too many pages at once (up to 6 pages). I have tried cleaning the rollers with no positive results. I know that recycled paper in some machines will cause this also as the paper creates too much paper dust that is attribiuted to slipping of the paper against the rollers.
