Will not record onto blank DVD's from HDD on LVW-5045 HDD-DVD 160 gb

I have been downloading all my old video's onto the hard drive. I then have put in a complete collection of blank DVD-R/+R, -RW/+RW of all makes and it will not copy onto them and keep's coming up that they are in the wrong format. What I have noticed is that even though some blank DVD's are -R on the front of the dvd recorder it shows them as +RW. I have had this 2 years now and will replace with a Sony one as this is no use to me know. Funny no one is selling Lite-On in the Essex area anymore.

Re: Will not record onto blank DVD's from HDD on LVW-5045...

Hi Barry - I too have a Lite-on and was initially over the moon with it. For the last year or so I have been unable to "read" disks and was just using it for the hard drive for recording - but this weekend my father in law had the exact same problem occur to his Lite-on and he bought a dvd cleaner (£5) - used it and it solved it - So I tried it and presto mine is reading and writing fine again - I was so chuffed - need to share this simple info just in case its a simple "dust" problem for anyone else that is having reading problems. DVD cleaner not just a CD cleaner as DVD cleaners have two brushes on it.

Re: Will not record onto blank DVD's from HDD on LVW-5045...

Hey guys if that works for you great but I have 2 5027ghc machines both wont record dvd's it's a common fault and liteon know about it yet won't recall. Most liteons use a ddw-813s drive and these become faulty very quick. Mine are just over 1 year old well within the 2 year warranty and liteon refuse to repair or replace them. they don't care about the consumer.

I have a recorder that whenever i put in video cassettes stops playing after a few seconds and turns the unit off. Can anyone help. Thanks

sounds like belts and rollers and any sensors you see need to be cleaned - it sounds like the unit thinks tape is at end and is shutting down

use qtip and rubbing alcohol to clean

try using different tape just to make sure it is not just a bad tape

Liteon 5045 problem in playing normal movie DVD's

The DVD drives are very unreliable and just get more temperamental with age. I replaced mine with a Lite-On SOHW-1213S. The DVD is too big to fit in the old ones place so it sits on top of the unit with the cable going through the slot, but it works brilliantly.

Lite on LVW 5005 NOT WORKING

This is a common problem with the Lite-on LVW range of DVD recorders due to changes in the construction of more recent DVD R media. It can be solved with a relatively simple firmware upgrade.

Goto :

You'll need to have a blank CD and a CD/DVD writer in the PC you use to download the file.

Follow the instructions on the website to upgrade your firmware, this should then allow you to write to DVD's once again.

Can this copy DVDs to blank DVD?

Copy content from your DVD to the HDD (hard drive) - then copy content from HDD back to a blank disk. Will not copy protected DVD's. You can also download another intruction booklet for it from the Lite0n website.

Downloading from hdd to dvd+r ?

When you recorded your "footage" was the dvd recorder set to 2hr (sp), 2.5hr (spp), or 3hr (LP), etc.?Because for example, you downloaded (recorded to your hdd)your "footage" that is say 3hrs long, and your recorder is set to record at 2hrs mode(sp), then when you put a blank dvd in recorder to transfer from hdd to blank dvd, the 3hrs of your "footage" has been recorded in 2hr mode on your hdd, and will only record in 2hr mode onto your blank dvd. Solution is to set your recorder to the record mode in which your "footage" length is. For example, if your "footage" length is 3hrs, set your recorder mode to LP then when you insert your blank dvd should be okay. Or, set your recorder mode to 2hr (sp) and make two recordings of your "footage" onto hdd, splitting them up: 2hr on one, and 1hr on the other. When you burn to blank dvd you will have to have 2 blank dvds, one for 2hrs, the other for 1hr. I had to same thing happen to me. I hope this works for ya.
