My phones battery died and when i plugged it in and turned it on all it said was insert sim card. I reinserted it 3 times and got the same response.

Try to full recharge your battery or get another batery that you are sure it is working good and switch open your fon...sometimes cellphones will not work or open its sim card when the battery is weak.
