operating system freezes continually, wireless worked for 3 days and will no longer connect using original settings

whenever I attempt to access wifi with my eee pc it freezes. I called customer service and told me I need to update my settings hardwire. I did and nothing is fixed.

In my Dell Inspiron 6400 lap top, wirless network is not detected. But using the same Modem, it is working fine with Ethernet card. The internet service providers are telling the problem could be due to the settings in the lap top or wireless switch not enabled. But when I checked, there is no wireless switch in this model. All wireless options were enabled and worked fine till last week when the problem was reported. Please help

when you say will not maintain wireless connection, do you mean looses the network or the acsses point? did both of your problem start at the same time? is your adapter external? what freezes? computer or internet?
