Question about Washing Machines
My maytag washer sav2655aww makes an ugly squeaky noise when washer is washing or rinsing and stops squeaking when on spin cycle. to me it sounds like it needs oil or tighting of the belts? pls help!! I have a Magic Chief top load Washer that makes a squeak or rubbing sound in the agitation cycle . I have removed the agitator and inter tub and all looks good. Squirted WD40 under the outer tub and it still squeaks under a heavy load. It makes less noise with a lite load. Could the springs that hold the tub be weak ? This washer also gets out of balance very easy. The washer is level. The washer is only about 1 year old however inside the machine looks very cheaply built.

If you are a good DYI'er you can find the parts here http://www.repairclinic.com/0003.asp you'll need a couple of hours set aside and maybe a few beers for after. If you are not going to fix it yourself the labor costs and parts would come
to just about the price of a new one. Hope this helps.

This specific model uses a brake package that is giving you both noises.
Replacing the brake package will take care of it.
That washer is a jewel - they don't make them like that anymore.

There are four suspension rods that the tub hangs on. When the washer is agitating the tub will rock back and forth and the rods will move back and froth as well. To fix this noise, lift up in each rod and put some lubricant in the cup that the rods fit into at the top of the washer.
Note that it is best if you use a lithium-based lubricant rather than silicone based lubricant.

Testimonial: "shawnryan111, thank you for a great suggestion. That did the trick and the machine runs much more quietly. Thank you for the assistance. Regards, Les"
SOURCE: I have a brand new
I had this one come up on a washer I had professionally installed for a client. When I looked into it I found there were shipping blocks made of squeaky Styrofoam the installers left in place. Only made the noise when it was full of water and working hard shifting back and forth in agitation. It said right in installation instructions to take the shipping blocks out too.
