Re: Hard drive is not working after an update

No you just need to delete that update Xboxlive is haveing problems atm they are not able to keep things running smoothly. You probably downloaded some bad data. I would go into your HD and delete the saved update you just downloaded. Then check back with to find out when they will be back up and running then download it again.

your hard drive is curropted, go to setting>memory>Press"y" on your hardrive and select Format Hard Drive. yes you will lose your info but like any hard drive it can crash just like a computer. For future reference try to use a 20GB USB instead of a hard drive as you have WAY less chances to loss you data.

Hi my name is chris and I have a game that I bought last year and i am 11 years old. when i got this there was no scratches but when my family was moving and i was at school at that time my brothers were...

It is possible that your game is scratched up enough that you can't play it directly on your xbox 360... BUT you might still be able to play it is you can save it to your Xbox 360 hard drive. You might need to try it a few times to get it to read and work but try following these instructions for installing the game from your CD directly onto your Hard drive. You will still need to have the CD in your Xbox 360 to play but it will be reading from your hard drive if you can install it. Good luck:

  3. Select the game you want to install.
  4. Press the Y button on your controller.
  5. Select Install to Hard Drive.

I have the new xbox kinetic and i updated the game burnout paradise to version 1.9 and now when i go to play the game it tells me that the update is on the memory unit and should be placed on the hard...

Yes, this is a major problem with the new xbox 360. If you bought the 250 gig package, you shouldn't have to worry about this, but it sounds like you bought the 4 gig package. You don't have a hard drive. You only have an IMU(internal memory unit). You can buy an xbox 360 slim hard drive online. Install it into the hard drive slot, located on the side of the console. You're not the only one with this problem, lots of games require hard drives. For example, in halo reach, you cannot play co-op campaign or firefight without a hard drive.

X-box 360s brand new, cannot get it to download the update

The easiest option to update the Xbox 360 hard drive is to connect to Xbox Live. The console will automatically prompt the user to install any available updates. Alternatively, users can download the update files to a USB flash drive to transfer to the Xbox 360 hard drive.

Update via Xbox Live

Open the Xbox 360 dashboard menu. This menu automatically appears when the console is turned on. Press the "Xbox" button, followed by the "Y" button to return to the dashboard menu from a game.

Scroll up to the "My Xbox" tab of the dashboard menu.

Select "System Settings" from the "My Xbox" section of the dashboard. Scroll to the right while the "My Xbox" tab is selected to reach the "System Settings" icon.

Select "Network Settings" from the "System Settings" menu.

Select "Test Xbox Live Connection" from the network settings. A prompt will appear to update the Xbox 360 hard drive if your system is not already updated to the latest version.

Select "Yes, update now" to install the latest updates to your Xbox 360 hard drive.

Updating via USB Flash Drive

Copy the update files onto the root directory of your USB flash drive. You can download the Xbox 360 update files by going to$ You must extract the files from the .zip file before placing them on the USB drive. The update files cannot be placed into a folder or the Xbox 360 system will not recognize them.

Remove the flash drive from your computer.

Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the Xbox 360 console.

Turn on the Xbox 360. An update prompt will appear when the system powers up.

Select "Yes, update now" to update the Xbox 360 hard drive.

Games won't work

the problem lies within your hard drive. first thing youll have to do is perform a matenince on the hard drive. to perform this you must go into settings, memory, select your hard drive, then enter the following code... LB LB X X RB RB... it will say are you sure you want tot perform this. select yes... when this is done and the games still dont work, you'll have to format your hard drive. and after youve done that and they still dont work, you'll then have to buy a new hard drive
