make sure you buy CDs or DVDs which are speed compatible to your optical drive or COMBO drive speeds
if you are busying compatible speed CD media, then take some compressed air (can) and clean the drive bay and inside the optical drive area, to dedust it .
Are you able to read CD's and DVD's using the Optical Drive ?If yes, then it may be a problem with the lens in the drive. It can also be an issue with the software that you are using to burn Cd's ( like Nero ).If you are not able to Read and write Cd's or DVD's and the Optical drive isnot listed in " My Computer" then it can be either a driver issue or registry filters issue.Let me know abt this
There is a problem with your optical drive, the lens of it is dirty and dusty. Get a CD Lens Cleaner and use it in your drive but if the drive can't read it then replace your drive with a new one.
Could be problem with the optic, try to clean the optic
with CD cleaner first.
And if it still doesnt work, unfortunately you should replace with
another new CD Drive.
Try a lens cleaner, probably wont solve the problem, the drive's optics for the cd side are failing dvd's still work, if you must read cd's replace the drive or use a external cd drive.
upgrade your CD/DVD firmware from MAC website and install it. if it does same even upgrading driver then most could be problem in optical lens so better taking back in the same place where you bought it from if its still under warranty.
or if its out of warranty then you need to take to Tech so they can fix it for you.
