ok, model number you indicated is a newer set--a DLP set. I am going to make a guess---give me exact model number--If some idiot replaced one of the two STK-392-110 OR STK-392-150 convergence chips you were had. Sets like the Hitachi use 2 chips--if one fails you must replace BOTH CHIPs. The problem here is a white grease to transfer heat is applied to each chip and after a few years it dries out from the heat--I always change both chips and never hear from the customer again--some idiots will change just one--saves them a few dollars and is faster to do--the grease on the second chip is also real dry and after a short time that chip will go. Give me exact model number---let me know if you can if I give you instructions do this repair yourself---if it is a tube type rear projection made in 2001 both chips should have been replaced at the same time--On the Hitachi technical site they warn people about this----never just change one--change both--but some people cut corners----I have run into this before. I had a Hitachi some months ago that Sears repaired under an extended warranty--the idiot changed one chip and the set lasted 2 months past the extended warranty--the guy paid me and went after them--they ended up paying him what I charged him for a real repair. I do not blame you--you most likely did not know the set had two chips and both should be replaced--we are not talking about a large amount of money here for parts---you can buy a pair of the chips on Ebay for less than 12 dollars plus shipping. I am here to help people--I do this here for free---if this helps you rate this solution-- Let me know if you have questions or need any advice. Regards, SD TECH
