Check to make sure that the suction cup you have is the appropiate size for your GPS unit. Also check to make sure there is no grease or other slippery substance on the windshield or suction cup that stops it from sticking to the surface. If you have something like Rain-X on your windshield, you will need to clean the area where the suction cup will be placed, and after that, it should stick.

Mounting of gps can't mount on windsheild.

Tomtom GPS devices come with a variety of windshield suction mounts. All have in common that the windshield and the suction cup both must be clean; use a mild soap dispersed in some warm water to remove any dirt. Rinse properly. Sometimes it helps to keep the cup a little moist.

Make sure the cup is not warped due to previous exposure to heat, and check for any nicks in the rubber. Small damage may easily make the mount unusable and you'd need to get a replacement.

Models with a lever mechanic: open the lever (cup becomes flat), press the cup against the windshield and while keeping pressure, close the lever. It will lift the middle of the cup away from the windshield, causing a vacuum.

Models with a ring around the cup base: Turn the ring all the way counter-clockwise (cup becomes flat), press cup against windshield and while keeping pressure, turn the ring clockwise 90 degrees. This requires some force, but in my experience these mounts stick more reliable,

I lost the GPS dock which is sticked on the windshield. where can i possibly buy a new one?

Do you mean the sucktion cup windshield holder? If so you can either get one on Ebay or go to www.MyGarmin.com and look under accessories.

I prefer MyGarmin at least you know you have the right holder for your product.

Mount no longer sticks to windshield

Well a new mount suction cup will need to be purchased. you can grab one at radioshack.com you alsmo might want to wet the plunger then try to stick it. Or clean of that dirty windshield and try again.

2 solutions

1. clean the windshield and apply a little water to the back of it.
2. Buy a new suction cup.

thats all I hope you to stop by and rate it thanks.

Suction cup does not stick to the base of the tom tom..Everytime I try to attach the suction cup, it just falls over. Help

  1. If you will stick the suction cup to your windshield make sure to clean it first use dry clothe and put pressure while rubbing it to the windshield.
  2. After cleaning it before you stick the suction cup to the windshield make sure the lock is release and then put a pressure and then while pressing it then that's the time you will lock it.

Won't stick to windshield

The suction cup mount should be attached on a clean, flat surface. If the windshield is too dirty or curved you'll have problems. Try first to find as flat spot as possible and then clean the glass with dish-washer liquid (the type you use for hand wash - not for the dish-washer machine) or similar agent.

The GPS suction cupwill no longer stickto the windshield. We have cleaned the windshield with alcohol. Still doesn't stick.

clean both sides with alcohol. If that doesn't work, I find a light coating of spit (yes it's gross) will help it hold.

Plastic pholder for my Garmin 255W will not stick to windshield

The glass and attachment suction cup should be clean and free of oils, dust hair etc. Try cleaning both surfaces. If this doesn't workyou can order a new holder from Garmin.
