Hi, I have aligned my cartridges no end of times since I replaced them two months ago and the printer continues to print the test page each time I turn it on. I have looked in settings to try to turn this annoying function off but am unable to find anything which will do this. Any suggestions would be most welcome, thanks. Elaine, Lancashire England.

It wants to align the cartridges so you have to have both color and black ink installed, and it needs all of the colors to do the alignment. Until it passes alignment it will keep printing that page.

How do you stop a test page from printing every time the printer is turned on?

Welcome to FixYa!

Here's how to stop the unwanted print out of test pages.

1. Let the printer print the test page.
2. Place the printed test page in the scanner face down and wait for 10 seconds.
3. Press the scan button of the printer to scan the printed test page.
Make sure that the printer scanned the document properly.

That's it. Every time you install a new cartridge, the printer aligns the print cartridge as well as testing/aligning the scanner.

Note: Try to look at the top of the test page, it should have instructions to place it in the scanner.

I hope that this will help.
Thank you for using FixYa.

My printer keeps printing the test page every time it's switched on

Unplug the printer and leave it for three minutes and then plug it back in. This will reboot it and it may cure the problem.

Printer prints a test page every time I turn it on

This means your printer needs alignment. Take that test (alignment) page. Place it face down in the scanner. Press the scanner button. This will stop that page being printed every time.

HP Photosmart C3100 series BEWARE SPAM NUMBER 1-800-532-4187

I just got off the HP help line.  After changing my black ink cartridge a test page was printing each time I turned the machine on.  This is very costly, in both time and ink as the cartridges themselves for this machine hold very little ink.  I tried to learn from HP tech how to turn off the test-print while keeping my color cartridge empty.  It turns out that you cant do it.  HP requires you to keep buying and using cartridges whether you need them or not.If you buy the color ink it will use it up in its testings.  And if you dont buy the color cartridge it will use up your black ink by printing the test each time you turn on the printer.  The printer was inexpensive sure, but I'm paying for it in wasted ink.

Test page

I had the same problem and being helped by HP operator.
first take the USB cable out of your computer, then put it off and then on again...it starts to print the test page again...then after the printer stops printing, put the just printed testpage face down on the scanner(glas) and press scan manually...after the scanning(you wait till that is finnished) and then put the printer off and on again....then connect the USB cable to the computer and that will stop the printer from printing the testpage every time you startup your printer....

hope it wil solve your problem, it did for me...
