Sounds to me like an air-flow problem. Poor air-flow means dryer gets hot and scorches clothes but there is nowhere for the wet air to go, so it doesn't dry well. Check for lint-clogged ducting from the back of the dryer to the outside (or at least check both ends of the duct). Also check for a collapsed or clogged flexible tube that goes from the dryer to the duct work.
An over-heated dryer could also have warped the (usually) plastic lint filter.
auto dry relies on a moisture sensor to say when its done. so your clothes arent dry enough according to sensor. perm. press. doesnt dry the clothes as much
how do i set this dryer to dry my clothes??? what is the right setting?? should i use the time dry setting or the more dry/less dry setting?? Clothes never dry???????????????????????????????????????????????????????
Many newer models have a wrinkle guard setting. They will buzz or ring or chirp with some sound to let you know to remove the clothes before the wrinkles can set in. Usually for 5 min or so near the end of the cycle. Eric
First listen for the bell and determine where it is. Unplug the unit and remove the cover where it is. Carefully remove the wire to it and insulate the wire with plastic electricians tape. Put the cover back on and make sure the dryer will work ok with the bell undone.
There is most likely a lint obstruction somewhere in the exhaust. Start by checking the outside vent as often there is an animal screen on it that over time gets caked with stray lint. If that's clear then work backward and check the hose, etc until you either find something or get to the dryer itself. It's possible that in the internal exhaust tubes there's an obstruction as well so if you don't find anything in the external tube you will need to disassemble and have a look inside those internal exuast tubes/ports. If it's inside then do it soon as there's clearly a risk of fire if there's a wad of lint somewhere inside where it shouldn't be.
The mother of a friend at work had this issue - her clothes took HOURS to dry. Her animal screen had several inches thick layer of lint. Once that was removed the dryer dried like new.
Chances are the little plastic latch keep is broken. Look at the door and locate a peice that will press into the front area where the clothes go in.
Once you see it, check the keeper and see if it is broken. The door should not just pop open.
