Are you getting a dialtone on the fax? Do you need to dial 9 or 8 first to get an outside line? If so, add "9," (that's a 9 and a comma, without quotes) in front of the number you're dialing.

Are you using a digital telephone line or analog. Fax machines still run on analog technology and can't handle the speeds of DSL or Cable lines. This could be your issue.
