Back in September, my Amana washer ate a belt. As near as I can tell, it seemed to have been caused when the tub failed to spin after it was done agitating. The motor spun but the belt just slipped and burned. Smoke detector went off. Dog freaked out. You get the picture. I replaced the belt and the washer worked perfectly until this morning. I caught it this time before the belt broke, but it is damaged and needs to be replaced. The drum seems to turn OK. I restarted the load and gave the tub a little push and it started to spin and seemed to be fine. I did two loads after that (Life on the edge! lol) and it worked fine. I don't do all that much laundry as I'm single, maybe a couple of loads a month. I'm wondering if it's possible the drum starts to get a little stiff and difficult to turn due to lack of use? The belt wasn't too bad to change but I don't want to do it again if the thing really needs something more done to it. Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated. Thank you.
