Is the fan belt tight? If so using an amp. meter, start engine & check by putting leads on neg. & pos. of battery. Reading should be higher than 13.2 if lower replace alternator. Good luck!

My car sometimes wont start and when it does it cuts out and dies

Put a voltmeter on battery. It should say something like 12 volts. Start motor and see if you have about 14.5 volts while running. If not your charging system has failed.
