Hobart dishwasher leaking as it rinses/fills

We have a Hobart dishwasher in our K of C hall that leaks every time fill water is going into the unit or as it rinses. I have some pictures of the control box, the unit itself, and the pipes and valves at the rear of the unit that are leaking that I will try to add using a comment later. I assume this is a simple fix of a gasket or even the valve itself but since I have never tore into one of these and our hall has no $$ I want to be sure before I go breaking anything causing the need for additional repairs...Thanks for any guidance.

That is where...and it does look like it could be a vacuum breaker. It is a 90 degree piece that has a screw on cap and a rubber boot under the cap.

Do you know where the water is leaking from? Sounds like it might be coming from the vac. breaker at the top RH side of the machine. Please clarify so we can be of further assistance

If the brand is Watts, a rebuild kit is available from Hobart. Their part # 118270. It should contain the float with a red rubber gasket and a bonnet o-ring. Unscrew the cap, clean off the sealing surface and drop in the new float OR you might find a local Watts distributor and see if they carry the kit. That should solve the leaking issue. Let me know.

Tub leaks, with a partially filled tub (2.5 inches measured from the lowest point over the pump assembly.) Promblem occured after the washer was idle for 3 weeks. Have just replaced the main water inlet...

I am assuming leaking when it is running, not sitting idle. Leaking from the door? Fill and run unit for 1 minute with no detergent. Open door. Are suds present? Suds turn into water when they drop to the floor. Suds can flow over the lip of the tub and drip to the floor. Oversudsing, Sometimes old detergent breakdown. Rinse aid dispenser leaking will cause oversudsing. Combination of all in one products will cause many problems. If suds are present after running unit a minute, pour a cup of cooking oil in unit. Run and fill it a few times until suds are gone. Possible most common cause is dispenser latch grommet.

Hobart WM-ID dishwasher doesn't heat water enough to clean dishes

The WM-1D does not have any internal heating devices. You have to supply the machine with the proper water temp. It has two fill valves, one for wash and one for rinse. It should have 150F supplied to the wash fill valve and 180F to the rinse fill valve.

At some point the dishwasher leaks onto the floor. what could be the possible problem?

this are the possibilities for the leak :-----
Door gasket loose/torn
Corner gaskets or door baffle/vent gasket
Door lock/latch loose/broken
Split spray arm
Over filling with water...usually the level is just under the heating element is normal
Something leaking through the door...like the soap or rinse agent dispenser gasket, silverware basket button.
Door hinge(s) bent
Wrong soap was used...dish sink soap instead of dishwasher soap
Rinse aid being used with mechanically softened water ( makes foam or suds inside the dishwasher )

Leaks from under the unit:
Look for whiting or calcium stain on the motor and pump assembly = motor and pump assembly seal leak...access panel removal help
Hose for upper spray arm split
Fill hose split or fill hose spout air inlet is calcium covered
Drain hose is split
Rusted liner...metal liners only
Fill valve leaking or allowing water to fill all the time
Heating element ends....where they come out through the dishwasher liner
Float or float gasket.

Dish washer over filling?

The first thing you should do is clean the level probes in the unit. There are two probes sticking through the back of the unit and the water completes a circuit between these two telling the machine when it is full. If they are clean, you may have a faulty sensor or wiring.

LXGH E5 Code

I need to check my codes to be positive. And I'll check them this weekend. But, I believe E5 is from excess water in the unit, and so it won't go into rinse and add more water.

First and most common -- the drain hose, at the back of the unit is kinked. The unit gets pushed back against the wall and kinks the line.

Second, your probes are dirty. The ones in the back right corner detect water level. Clean them with a green scrungee even if they look clean.

Good luck - Mike
