First check the cable and plug they can very easily break. Sometimes bending and flexing can cause the sound to appear. Try this all over right to where the cable joins the headphones. The only other problem it can be is a failure of the speaker. UNLESS there's a volume control or a switch in the cable or on the phones themselves. These can break or get dirt on the contacts cutting sound off.
PS Make certain they don't work in other amps first, headphone sockets can breakdown too!
If you find it is the plug, you can cutt it off and fit a new one if your any good with a soldering iron. The cable is much harder as you would need to get into the headphones to replace it. If the speaker has gone you would need to order one from Beyerdynamic.
Dirt can be cleaned out with Servisol Switch Cleaner.

Sound and noise canceling comes and goes in right ear. Just touching the right ear piece creates problem. Moving around on right ear makes it come and go. When using only as noise cancelling, right side seems to come and go and is very sensitive when touched or moved on ear. Music or speech is intermittent and sensitive to touch. Left side is normal with none of the right side problems.

I have a similar problem, relatively new headphones I picked up second-hand, they work perfectly in most instances so didnt notice when I first bought them, though when I play my Digital Piano or playback recorded piano or Midi Piano instruments, basically anything that is the sound of a natural piano I get a buzz in the right headphone, only certain frequencies seem to cause it, but it is very irritating and not helpful when mixing... I am considering pulling them apart to get at whatever is causing it, though not sure how serviceable they are.
