Hi, How do I change the heater element on a Bosch washing machine. Is it faulty if it is an open circuit? across the heater element terminals, Many Thanks
First of all, if you have checked the element with a meter an it indicates it's "open" then yes it is faulty.
Second, it can be a challenge to change the element and you might want to consider an expert.
**unplug the unit from the power source**
Note where the wires are attached to the heater and remove them. Now you'll see there is a single nut in the center, likely about a 5/16 or 3/8, or similar in metric. Once that nut is off, the heater should pull straight back and out. It may need some firm pulling. The tricky part is lining it up properly when re-installing it as to get in the bracket which keeps it from contacting the basket.
You can do a trial run if you're not sure, If once you start you think it isn't going well, phone a certified tech.
Hope that helps.
good Luck :)

Good evening. I trust you might be able to give me some advice. I have a 'Bosch Logixx (auto option' machine which I purchased in 1999. It has been kept in extremely good cond - used only prob once per week - all filters etc properly cleaned etc and just recently have started having problems! Intensive 70deg program seems to work OK albeit timer starts at 140 mins now? However, both the 'Auto' and 'Eco' prog timers now appear to commence at 199 mins. Is there an easy solution, can it be resolved or is the machine shot? Your help would be appreciated. tks
