I want window vista BUT I DONT KNOW HOW CAN I DO THIS

Hi there !

So tell me, what do you want to do with your computer? Do your computer crash and need to reinstall your Windows Vista operating system? Or you want to upgrade your operating system from Windows XP to Windows Vista.

For reinstalling Windows Vista, is it the same procedure when reinstalling Windows XP and Windows 7. Here is the link on how to reinstall operating system http://www.fixya.com/support/r7410371-reinstall_windows_xp_or_installing_clean. For Windows Vista, here is the procedure on how to reinstall Windows Vista.

1. Just put the installer CD into the CDROM Drive and open your computer
.
2. If message appear to press any key to boot from CD. Press any key to go to Windows Set up.

3. From there, just follow the installation procedure and put CD key if prompted and it will install itself the whole process. It will reboot for 3 times and don't press anykey when this happen. it will be finished within 20 mins.

For upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista, remember that all your files and softwares will be remove except for the hardware drivers. But not all the hardware drivers will be 100% working because upgrading the operating system will make your drivers outdated or not compatible with Windows Vista. If some drivers not working, just install the hardware drivers compatible with Windows Vista.

Here is the procedure.

1. Do not put the Windows Vista installer CD yet into the CDROM drive.

2. Open your computer and let it run to Windows XP program until is is finished to load your Windows settings.

3. Now insert your Windows Vista installer CD to the CDROM drive, it will pop up the upgrade installation wizard and just choose the upgrade installation. It will run the upgrading installation and just follow the instruction and it will be finish with 20 mins.

I hope this will help you and thank you for using FixYa !

How to install or run older programs on Windows 7

Since the release of Windows 7 many of my clients have been asking me about program compatibility and which programs will run on Microsoft's new operating system.

Their concerns were mainly because of Vista not running very well and they thought that they may be in for some of the same type of compatibility problems that Vista had.

Before Windows 7 was released to the public Microsoft said in a statement that "Any program that works on Windows Vista will certainly work on Windows 7"

Microsoft has certainly delivered their promise and much, much more!!!

I tested both the beta and the RC (release candidate) editions of Windows 7. In October of this year I was so impressed with Windows 7 I went out and bought Windows 7 Ultimate.

I was glad i did because Windows 7 is being welcomed with very open arms, people are upgrading so i need to know my may around the operating system.

At first i was weary about programs not installing because of compatibility problems but the procedure to either install a program or get it running when installed is relatively simple and is the same way that Vista uses.

How to install an XP/Vista program on Windows 7

First of all locate the setup or installer file, this will be either in the contents of a CD/DVD (you have to explore the contents of the CD/DVD) under the name "setup" or a downloaded .exe (executable) file.

Right click on the setup file and select "Properties" from the sub menu.

A Properties windows will appear on screen, click on the "Compatibility" tab.
At the bottom of the tab you will see the header "Privilege Level".

Check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator"

Also at the top of the Compatibility tab you will see "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Check that box and if you have the option select Windows XP (service pack 3).

Click Apply and then OK and install your program.

NOTE: if you have upgraded from Vista Windows XP mode may not be available depending on how you system was configured.

How to run an installed program on Windows 7

Some programs will install but they won't run on Windows 7. Again this down to compatibility but unlike Vista, Windows 7 has the compatibility mode working down to a tee.

Locate the desktop icon or the program in "All Programs" from the Start Menu or Orb as it's affectionately known today.

Just as in my tip about installing a program it is just the same.

moz-screenshot.pngmoz-screenshot-1.pngmoz-screenshot-2.pngRight click on the icon or file and select "Properties" from the sub menu.

Click apply and then OK and run the program.

NOTE: Again, if you have upgraded from Vista Windows XP mode may not be available depending on how you system was configured.

Sometimes you will get a message that says "This program may not have installed correctly, Reinstall using recommended settings and This program installed correctly"

It's up to you what you do from here, if the program works choose the latter. If your not too sure click on Reinstall using recommended settings"

So far (and i keep my fingers crossed) i have absolutely no problem in getting a program installed and running on Window 7. I will however provide more tips as and when they surface.

Please be aware that not all programs will work on Windows 7. These are programs which are mainly pre-XP like programs designed for Windows 2000, Windows 98/95.

Installing the jumpstart advanced 1stgrade cd rom that has 4 cds to it and I can't get it to install.

Jumpstart advanced 1stgrade cd rom installation.

System Requirements
Windows: 98/ME/2000/XP; Pentium II 266MHz (Pentium II 300MHz or faster for XP); 64 MB RAM (128 MB RAM for XP); 100 MB HD; 12x CD-ROM drive; 16-Bit color; Windows compatible sound card

If you are installing on a newer OS ie Vista, or Win 7, due to software incompatibility the software might not install, or even you can install the software might no work.

You can try using the "compatibility mode" in Vista or Win 7 to install the programs as "administrator" but no guarante this will work.

Alternatively, you can get a newer version which is compatible to your Operating System.

Hope it helps.

Just changed computer =now windows 7 instead of windows xp my olivetti simple way printer will not work with windows 7

Well this is a simple problem. Your printer isn't compatible with Windows 7. You should have checked that before you switched over.
Check the printer's website for the latest drivers and see if you can find one for Windows 7. But if not, it's a compatibility issue.

Installing this PDA on Windows Vista Home Premium laptop

you shouldnt need a device driver for your pda to work along side with Vista, as Vista has it's own Windows mobile device centre which should run as soon as you connect your pda to a usb port. If it doesnt run, then open up windows mobile device centre in programmes and check the mobile device settings as to whether usb is set to connect to the centre.
