The IBM Netvista should have options to change the language settings built in if you read the manual but generally, if you follow these instructions it usually works.
Go to the BIOS utility and change the language:
To run the Setup Utility program, use the following procedure.
1. Shut down the computer and wait for all lights go off. 2. Start the computer. 3. When the Setup Utility prompt appears on the screen during start-up, press F1. A Setup Utility menu will appear. 4. Follow the instructions on the screen. 5. When finished, select System Summary to verify that any configuration changes have been accepted.
You are going to have to flash it again the BIOS in your language. Go to the support and downloads section also check and make sure there is not a setting for languages in the BIOS hard to do this if you cannot read it that is just plain a hassle I can relate with you on this one for sure. You can go in here to get the flash software download. make sure it is the right model. Click Here
Almost all BIOS versions have language option in their setup.
Energize / boot the unit, press F2 in order to get into the BIOS and on the
first page you should see a option to change the BIOS language.
When the IBM Setup Utility program prompt is displayed, quickly press F1.
The prompt is displayed for only a short time.
if you dont see the prompt, tap F1 repeatedly as the computer starts. If it says "starting windows" you've let it go too far and will have to restart again and repeat the process to get into the bios
REGARDS..
With my netvista I was able to get boot options with F12 when powering up. I don't know if this will help you because I was installing a new hard drive. Larry
You don't have to update your BIOS just to have it changed into English... It's all there, your problem is how to get into that change language area... Check your system manual I am sure you'll find what you need...
