- it filled and drained, but not agitate and not spin. the new drive coupling fixed it; it must have just been worn out. Now, it does not stop filling. there was a piece of white plastic about 3 inches long with a round top. I'm not sure where it came from. Thanks for your help!
I'll need more information to go on, I can only guess what the actual problem you are trying to fix is. The usual sign that a coupling is out is that it will fill and drain but not agitate and not spin. If it does not do any of these, it is possible it's the motor or timer, if it agitates but does not spin or spins but does not agitate it could be the transmission is bad or the motor will not reverse direction. More info is definitely needed.
you have this posted in the front loader section.. front loader washers do not have a motor coupling, they are driven by a belt and two shivs(pulley). what model number do you have?? and why did you think the motor coupling was bad??? best of luck, ttfn
Make sure the plastic tripod like pieces for the coupling are not worn out on the shaft of the motor or the gear box. Sometimes they round out on the shaft and slip.
If they are O.K. then you might have a problem with your gearbox, neutral/break kit.
