Overheating laptop during normal use

posted by comguy on Jan 02, 2008

When i use this laptop normally, it randomly shuts down and upon rebooting, it says it has overheated. This still happens even when it is on a flat surface without airflow obstuction. Even when using i8kfangui to force my fan to high speed at all times, the temp climbs and it eventually overheats. Otherwise the laptop works fine.

Wow. Found the problem. There was a dust clump the size of a cockroach in blocking my heatsink's airflow.
I have the same problem
