Re: memory upgrade from ddr 256mb to ddr2 1g

There is a jumper setting to slect which type of memory you want to use, check your manual for details on how to change it

1> enusre the rams are in correctly
2>ensure your main board supports the amount of memory and the speed of the memory
3> verify jumper select to correct memory type is set correctly

if the main board aint compatable with the memory you brought that will cause the same problem

I got intel 845 gl motherboard having ddr 256mb pc3200 ram. there are two slots availble. i want to upgrade

If you want to upgrade your ram, buy the same memory frequency like your current ddr 256 mb pc3200 memory. You can upgrade your memory up to 4GB and be sure they have all the same frequency to avoid system complications.

Problem With ddr2 (Upgrade From ddr 512mb 400 to ddr2 1gb 800)

If it works fine with one stick of ram. Then it is the ram that is incompatible. You can try different settings but you may end up that the stick isn't compatible. Hope this helps let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you,

I need to solvthe problem of my new install memory

According to the specs of this motherboard, it supports DDR 333/400 and DDR2 533/400 memory modules. It does not support DDR2 667 memory modules.
DDR 333/400 memory modules can be installed in the yellow slots, whereas DDR2 533/400 memory modules can be installed in the blue slots.
Only one type of memory modules (either DDR or DDR2) can be used. Mixing of different types of memory modules is not supported.

MEMORY UPGRADE FROM DDR 256Mb to DDR2 1GB hangs when Log on/Booting

Its a memory problem obviously. Try dusting the memory slot and try inserting the memory into the slot a couple of times. If still not working, the memory may be incompatible(rarely, there are brands of boards that doesn't suit to certain brands of memory), or it may be damaged.

Please help me in my RAM

Hi hope13,
you had it correct the first time. The DDR2 533MHz memory should be in the Blue slots. When using two DIMMS the motherboard requires the DDR2 533MHz memory be of the same size, brand & speed. For you to get a blue screen has nothing to do with you're memory. If there was a problem with you're memory, you bios would let you know by beeping a series of repeating beeps. Blue screens are usually caused by software & some hardware like you're hard drive. If you have data on you're hard drive & you do not want to erase it by re-installing windows fresh (That includes a must format), than I can suggest you download this software from this site. Click on the link. Read what the software can do for you. If you do not want the software. Than break out you're windows CD & load it into you're CD-ROM drive. Boot the PC to the CD-ROM drive & in-stall windows. You're PC will function again when you finish installing windows & you're motherboard driver cd.

Good Luck!
I would have posted sooner but I though another was answering you're question.

If I can help you further, feel free to post.
Suggestions & comments welcomed.

Memory upgrade

Hi Dave,
Foxconn 945G7MA-8KS2
Memory (Page 10 in user manual).
This motherboard includes four 240-pin slots with 1.8 V for DDR2. These slots support 256 Mb, 512 Mb and 1 Gb DDR2 technologies for x8 and x16 devices, and support maximum memory bandwidth of 8.5GB/s using DDR2 533 memory,
10.7GB/s using DDR2 667 in Dual-Channel interleaved mode, You must install at least one memory bank to ensure normal operation.
Need you're manual? Click on the link below.

Foxconn 945G7MA-8KS2 motherboard main page link.

To upgrade with 1GB. This includes S/H. (Free S/H).

TigerDirect less S/H. (S/H not included).

I did find others for less on the surface. Untill you go to check out & get slammed for shipping (ground), falls between $4.99 to $9.99. I use Corsair myself. Never had a problem.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.
