What is different? Upgrade any software or hardware? Or did you just boot up one day and it no longer worked?
Usually this problem is a failed driver or for some reason it is not set to work in set up. Turn off the computer and enter set up as it boots back up. Go to device manager, check the touchpad to see if it is working properly. If not, check the driver. It may tell you no driver is necessary or has been loaded.
In that case, go to HP site, support, then downloading drivers. Chhose your model, download and install.
An alternate is to buy an inexpensive Logitech USB wireless mouse and never have to fool withj the touch pad again.
