Try This :
Unplug the USB cable from the computer
Uninstall the entire driver from "programs" or add/remove program from control panel
Restart the computer
Click on the below given link it will help you download the software :
Select your OS; Select the Full feature Driver; Click on Download ; Save to your desktop;
Run the software by using recommended option
Try to scan from hp direct/ Hp solution center
This should resolve the issue
