I have a desktop PC with Office 2003 including PowerPoint 2003. So far all PowerPoint files sent as email attachments open & run OK.
I also have a laptop with Works + Word, but it doesn't have PowerPoint installed. Both computers use XP Home + SP2, fully patched and applicable Office updates & patches as well, including the update for Word 2007 DOCX files.
On the laptop I have been using PowerPoint Viewer 97 satisfactorily until recently when several files wouldn't run. Often the first screen would open but nothing else except for the last page.
I have downloaded and installed PowerPoint Viewer 2007, thinking that this would open all files from 97 onwards, as claimed by Microsoft. But it is no better at the problem files than Viewer 97.
Additionally, since installing PP Viewer 2007, I cannot open a PP attachment in Outlook Express 6, as I used to do all the time. When I try this, even with PP files that used to run, the file now opens in Notepad, not PP Viewer 2007.
I have checked the file associations in Folder Options, and PPS as well as PPT files are set to open with PP, but the only way that I can open these files now is to save the attachment to hard disk and then the file association will open PP Viewer 2007. At this point the files that opened OK in PP Viewer 97 still open OK, but the problem ones just won't open.
I have uninstalled and re-installed PP Viewer 2007 but have now run out of ideas.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
regards
Colin

I forgot to mention that both computers run IE7 fully patched and as far as I can tell have virtually the same settings which are basically default. I notice this morning that Automatic Updates on the laptop are downloading Service Pack 1 for PP Viewer 2007 so it will be interesting to see what happens after I install that.

Have installed the Service Pack 1 but it made no difference.

Both computers have had SP2 installed for a long time. I think the problem PP files are those that contain Flash animation. The Adobe web site test shows that Flash & Shockwave are both installed correctly and play files correctly, but not when in a PP file.

After upgrading to PP Viewer 2007, Windows Automatic Updates advised me to download/install SP1 for this viewer, and so I have been assuming that most bugs & omissions had been ironed out.
However, I have just been advised through a Microsoft Discussion Group that it appears Microsoft haven't updated the PP Viewer to display Flash/Shockwave within PP files. This is why these files play OK when PP is installed, but not when there is just the PP Viewer installed.
So currently there is no solution, though I am hoping there will be a SP2 soon for the PP Viewer 2007.
Hi it is not the problem related to PP viewer. The problem with the Browser or iexplorer.exe So please try to upgrade it to IE7 or repair internet explorer and restore defaults of the explorer settings..
I face the same problem then i done like this.
I resolved the problem....
Goodluck :)
