I have a HP 8100 printer, when i print a configuration page, the top half of the sheet prints very light(blurr), while the bottom half of the sheet prints good. At first i thought it was the toner, so i replaced it, the print job is still the same. So i ordered a maintenance kit and replaced the fuser roller etc.. It still prints the same. I tried restoring default factory setting and changed printing quality density, but still no luck. Any Ideas? J

There is a good chance the laser unit polygonal mirror is dirty. It spins at high speed and the lead edge generally gets dirty. Try removing it with care, cleaning the polygonal mirror and the lens's in the lazer unit

How to print a configuration page from an HP LaserJet P1102w

freginold_0.jpg

The HP LaserJet Professional P1102w is a compact wireless desktop printer. It is very easy to set up and use. Unlike larger HP printers, the P1102w does not even have a true operation panel; it only has a power button, a cancel button, and a wireless button.

However, like just about every other HP printer, the P1102w has the ability to print out a configuration page that displays many of the printer's settings and statistics. This page is called the self test / device configuration page, and on it you can find the printer's page count, number of paper jams (broken down by section), amount of available memory, network settings, and more.

To print the device configuration page, make sure the printer is on and ready. The green light on the top left side of the printer should be lit. If the red light is lit or flashing, then there is a problem with the printer -- such as no toner or a paper jam -- and you won't be able to print the configuration page until the problem is rectified. You'll also need to have at least one sheet of paper loaded into the paper tray. Make sure the two side fences and the rear fence are snug against the paper to prevent misfeeding.

Press and hold the cancel button (the button with the red X on it) for about four seconds. The printer will warm up and begin making noise, and the green light will start to flash -- when these two things happen, you can release the cancel button. The printer will print out the configuration page, face down, and once it has finished the green light will stop flashing and the printer will quiet down.

Laserjet 4050 - black streaking on right hand side of page

It is either the toner cartridge or the fuser.
Put paper in the manual feed tray.
Print the Configuration Pages.
When the sheet is half way fed into the printer, open the top cover.
Remove the toner and look at the sheet of paper. If you see the black streak, the toner is bad.
If the sheet looks good, the fuser is bad. Probably a bad roller, which you can see looking at the fuser.

Getting black streaks along top and bottom edges of paper sheet when duplexing with hp 8100. Prints beautiful if only one-sided.

Issue with the duplexer... could be as simple as cleaning the rollers and things inside the duplexer.. or could be something major like replacing it.

Don't have a definitive answer.. sorry.

Hello,

Here is the step by step right from the user manual. also here is a direct link to the manual.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01527492.pdf

Let me know how it works out for you.

Print on both sides of the page
You can print two-sided pages with the HP All-in-One manually. When printing two-sided
pages, make sure to use paper that is thick enough so that images do not show through
to the other side.
To print on both sides of the page
1.
Load paper into the input tray.
2. On the File menu in your software application, click Print.
3. Make sure the product is the selected printer.
4. Click the button that opens the Properties dialog box.
Depending on your software application, this button might be called Properties,
Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.
5. Click the Features tab.
6. In the Paper saving options area, select Manual from the Two-sided printing dropdown
list.

For binding, do one of the following:
• For binding on the top like a notebook or calendar, select the Flip Pages Up check
box.
This causes the odd and even pages of your document to print opposite of each
other top-to-bottom. This ensures that the top of the page is always at the top of
the sheet when you flip the pages up in your bound document.
• For binding on the side like a book or magazine, click to clear the Flip Pages
Up
check box.
This causes the odd and even pages of your document to print opposite of each
other left-to-right. This ensures that the top of the page is always at the top of the
sheet when you turn the pages in your bound document.

8. Click OK, and then click Print or OK in the Print dialog box.
The product begins printing. Wait until all the odd-numbered pages are printed before
removing any of the printed pages from the output tray.
A dialog box displays instructions on the screen when it is time to process the second
side of your job.
9. Click Continue when done.
