Well, if you can manage to open it and check for a "blown fuse" and change a good one... if it works ... you are lucky. I'll hope and pray that it's only the FUSE.

Why does my speakers turn off ?

Why do you want a switch on your sub anyway?.... Anyway it's the remote turn on Power wire. It's the wire that needs to be connected to your switch as the hot wire.

The bass in my Sony 3-way 6X9 speakers wont work

if these speakers are several years old, chances are that the left one is just blown. could be a loose wire, but if not, it would be cheaper to get new speakers than to get that one fixed

One thing to remember about most radios, the RCA pre amp circuit will still work even if the mosfet power amp inside the radio does not. The best way to know if the amp inside the radio works is to use one matching color pair coming off the radio to wire up a random speaker right to the radio. You can use just about any old random 4 ohm speaker that is laying around to check it. The best solution if the amp inside the radio is blown is to replace the radio or amp the pre amp outputs with a small 4 channel amp. Oh, by the way. What vehicle are you connecting this into? And does the vehicle say Bose, Infinity, or ect sound or Premium sound? These usually denote a factory amplifyer already onboard and requires special connections to get the signal to these amps to then be delivered to the speakers.

It does sound like a problem either with the amp itself or the wiring. Since the wiring is the easiest thing to check and cheapest to fix start here.

1.Make SURE the ground wire is secured to the frame of the vehicle.
2.Make sure the remote wire is hooked up properly.
3.Check the component/rca cables
4. Check the settings on the amp itself

Post back and let me know if you find anything wrong with one of those troubleshooting ideas.

Why have the speakers stopped working on my stereo. they were working fine until i had to brake sharply then thet all went off together. the stereo is only a month old & is still connected at rear...

Hello.. I am sorry to hear you are having a problem. If you have had your speakers changed out recently, it could be that one of the speaker wires or terminals are touching a metal part of the car. What happens is the aftermarket stereo detects this problem and it shuts down all of the outputs to keep from burning up. So all of your speakers going out is a good thing because your stereo protection is working as it should. You can cut all of the speaker wires loose behind the radio and hook them back up one at a time and when the radio cuts off, that will be the bad line. I am assuming of course that you dont have them hooked to an aftermarket amplifier. Even if you have not changed your speakers, it is still a protection circuit that will detect a bad speaker as well. Sudden jolts, braking, etc. can cause a bad speaker to fault. Hope this helped!! Good luck with your venture!

The speakers rattle

looks like your voice coils got detached from cone, possibly, due to previous overloading. 2 ways to fix it: if the cone could be detached from frame, you may be able to reach the joint between the voice coil and sew them up back with contact cement and sewing thread., second: replace those speakers with more powerful ones.
good luck,

My boyfriend has pioneer surround sound speakers for the house and on the subwoofer my daughter pushed in the dome what is the best way to get the dome back out

A vacuum works good, or some good tape. It's only a dust cover for the voice coil. It does nothing for performance of the speaker, unless it's loose and it will vibrate and sound bad and the you can re-glue the edges.
I'm sure your daughter feels bad, but let her know that she did not damage the speaker at all, it will be just fine.

If it was fitted by an installer after July 1st 2007, then it's covered under warranty for 3 yrs, but if it was purchased then installed by you I'm afraid it's only one year :(

Having said that, if you are sure that the speaker blow due to faulty manufacture, Focal has a really good PR relationship with focal dealerships, and you could ask for the Focal representitive to inspect the midrange.

It's a bit of a long shot, however being Focal they like to keep the excellent reputation they have intact, and I've been able to replace a pair of Focal tweeters in the past (due to faulty manufacture) even thought they were almost 3 years old.

Unless things have changed somewhat over the last few years, they should still have a subjective approach to their warranty claims...'s hoping anyways!!!

Hi - I have taken a car radio from my daughters car - it is 2 years old - and I am trying to find out what hte many coloured wires connect to. I have identified the 8 wires to the speakers but what is hte...

When dealing with vehicle wiring, assume NOTHING! Your best bet is to go to a place that sells adapter plugs (wal-mart will probably even have them) and save yourself the hassle of trying to figure out the factory wiring. It will plug directly into the vehicle wiring harness and will have wire colors that should match exactly with most aftermarket car stereos saving you the guesswork. As an installer for over 15 years I have seen many attempts at wiring to a factory system without an adaptor plug and the results range from the system not working to doing major electronic damage to the stereo and even the vehicle.
In addition to it being a headache to try and figure out, many newer vehicles use some of those wires as data carrying lines and there are things in the factory stereo which control other things in the car ie: door chimes, air bags and others.
If you are hell bent on doing it the way you have started, please provide vehicle information and I can advise you further although I do not recommend doing it that way.
