Altec Lansing VS2221 Speaker System PRI...

Altec Lansing VS2221 PRIORITY:HIGH The potentiomentor in the one satellite speaker(s) for the Altec Lansing VS2221 is either worn or needs additional lubrication. The pot has been cleaned with CRC QD Electronic cleaner.Most noisiest when you first turn it on to power it up and then about the first 1/3 rd turn of the pot and then it quiets down the last 2/3rd's. Always noisy as you turn it from 0-3 on a scale of 0-10.
I'm planning on lubricating it with CRC 2-26, and wonder if worst comes to worst is it really worth replacing the pot and where? would I get one? Altec offers no parts for this systen as it was not sold after 2006. Geez I thought they'd atleast keep parts for 7 years?!? I'm not a part of the ''throw away'' generation that's bascially over taken our planet...
What do you suggest? The System to the best of my knowledge has been minimally used and should not require a new pot is my guess.
