Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
Like burst said make sure its getting hot..your cooling fan couold be going bad.. if there is heavy dust build up it will restrict air flow and cause the fan to not work right.you can use a vacume that has a hose to suck out the dust by holding it at the back (((( unplug all power to your ps2 first))))) the suction will cause the fan to spin at a higher rpm freeing up the dust..or you can use a can of keyboard cleaner and blow it out..but that just spreads it through the machine unless you have it apart..

I would recommend keeping the ps2 in an open area where there is plenty of air flow space. downstairs is better than upstairs and keeping the room temperature lower is always helpful. if you still experience these problems there are coolers you can buy which are fans separately connected.
make sure that it is overheating that's causing the freezing. i would assume it was a scratched disk. hopefully that helps.
