Deleting mp3s does not free up space on memory stick

When I connect to my mac with usb cable and delete files it doesn't increase the amount of free memory that the mac says is available.
I have deleted an album using the phone and the memory changes to suit.
i have tried turning phone on & off, waiting for the change to be noticed etc. - no change to avail memory according to mac
it means that although i only have about 300mb of songs the computer/phone are telling me i only have 1.8 of free space (which is how much space i had before i deleted the mp3s using the mac)
How can i make my phone and mac realise i do have lots of memory??

How do I free up space on my phone?

Deleting apps, deleting photos and all saved messages. The only way to create space is deleting. Sorry, but there is not much else. You could try yo get a Dropbox account on your phone, so you don't need to keep all documents on the phone, but that is not very convenient. Next time don't buy a phone with twice the memory amount, but at lease 4 times. The smart phones now should have at least 64 GB of memory. We use it as a hand held computer, why not give it a computer sized internal memory.

I got a iPhone 4s last year for Christmas December

I can understand you very well. Because this situation drives people insane indeed. I once have the same trouble. here's some tricks to free up space on your phone.
1. Go to Settings > Safari > Clear History & Clear Cookies & Data. This takes up a surprising amount of space if it isn't cleared on occasion.
2. Go to Settings > General > Usage > Here, you'll see a list of apps that are using your space sorted from the app taking the most space down to the app taking up the least space. Right from here you can remove apps that are killing your storage.
3. I would recommend backing up photos and videos to your computer regularly than deleting them from your phone.
4. You can turn to some third party for help. Some professional software support us a efficient way to do. I downloaded a software named iMyfone Umate iPhone Space Saver on Helloween. It can free up space on iPhone and speed up your device by two steps. It not only scan your iPhone and find the junk files which need to be deleted, but also make lossless photo compression to save your space. What's more, it can manage and delete unnecessary apps to reclaim storage. Awesome! It helped me saved more than 4 GB space.

If i detele all my apps on my phone why does it keep saying my memory is low?

have you tried uninstalling all hte apps after you have deleted it. Because deleting doesnt free up space it only deletes the apps but all the installer are still on the memory and you can always re install the apps you wanted. Theres another way to free up space on your memory by reformatting your memory.. But remember this will erase everything in the memory. but before you do this try backing up the files first so that you can still retrieve your files that you wnated after reformatting..Hope this info has helped you in anyway..have a nice day..

When I save a new gprs setting, it shows a msg as memory full.......or 'no more than 70 sets allowed.

Welcome to FixYa!
To be able to save the new GPRS settings, you need to free some space. GPRS settings occupies a significant amount of space and can only be saved in PHONE MEMORY.
Free some memory space by deleting text messages, pictures and mp3's in your phone memory or transfer it to your memory card.
Thank you for using FixYa. Have a great day. Jas247.

My Nokia N70 is saying your memory is full delate some data

Welcome to Fixya

This means that you need to free up some space in you phone memory or memory card. Access the file manager from the menu and start deleting some of your files there that you dont use anymore. Files would be pictures, sounds or video. This will solved the issue once you free up some space.

Thank you for using Fixya!

Need to recover deleted photos

You can often successfully recover deleted files from a PC, phone or camera memory card or USB Memory stick, it just depends on what's happened since the files were deleted.
When you delete files the data itself isn't deleted, just the index entry that says where the data for those files is located. The space containing the deleted files is also now marked as free space so it is available to the system for any new files to be written there instead.

If and when that happens, then it becomes too late to recover your deleted files so it is very, very important to not save any new files or data to the device concerned.
If the deleted files are on a memory card or USB memory stick, just don't save any new files to it.

One of the easiest ways to see if you can recover deleted photos is to try some file recovery software. Recommended asoftech photo recovery as it saved my life many times.
