SOURCE: Hi, the flash setting on my Vivitar Vivicam 8025

Remove the battery AND the memory card.
Then reinsert both starting with the memory card FIRST.
Doing this, the camera will keep its settings while you take pictures but will revert back to its default settings as soon as the camera is turned off, or if you going into playback mode, etc.

This is a little frustrating for us but since the camera is for our 7 year old, she's not really concerned much. Hopr that helps you!

SOURCE: I have a Vivitar 8018 camera. Will the camera

Yes and no. The camera will use the flash if it thinks it's necessary. Unfortunately, what the camera thinks and what you think may not be the same. Often indoors, you won't be allowed to use flash, or you may get better results without flash, so you'll have to override the camera and turn the flash off. Other times, outdoors you may want to use the flash to fill in the shadows, thus you'll again have to override the camera and force the flash.

Instructions for using the flash are in the manual. If you've misplaced yours, you can download a copy from the manufacturer's web site at

SOURCE: Vivitar 8400 will not turn on. When switching on,

This is more than likely a Manufacturing problem. A lot of Vivitar cameras have this problem as well as many others that are usually not the consumers fault. Just a glitch in the technology. I alone have gone through four Vivitar cameras in the last six months. The best thing to do is contact Vivitar directly. This is there website: It is best to see if you can find the number for technical support. To see if they can give you a refund or replace it for you. I hope this helps. -Richard

SOURCE: Can't get the flash function to work on the vivicam 8018 camera

There is a switch on the side of the camera that needs to be in down position (scenery) for the camera to flash. Worked for me.

How do you turn the flash on? (with the vivitar vivicam 8018)

Your camera has a built in flash function which enables you to take photos when the light condition is not good.

1. Press the Up button. (for reference of buttons, please see the below figure mentioned)
2. Press the Up button once until you see the icon appear on the LCD screen. This indicates that the flash is forced on.
3. Press the Up button again to change to the auto flash function.
4. The icon will appear at the top of the LCD indicating that the auto flash is turned on and ready to use.
5. Press the Up button again to change from the auto flash to the red eye function.
6. The icon will appear on the LCD indicating that the red eye reduction function has been activated.
7. To turn off the flash function, press the Up button again until the icon is displayed on the LCD.

Note: A “Low Power” message will appear on the LCD screen, if you select the flash function when the battery power is insufficient. To continue using the camera with the flash, please change new batteries

Digital Vivitar Camera

1. What operating system are you trying to use this on Windows 98, ME, XP or ?
If you are using Windows XP it will recognize the Camera as a Hard Drive (it will call it mass
storage) in My Computer
2. Do you have the Driver CD for the Camera?
If you have the CD Goto MyComputer and find the Folder CameraDriver
Inside the folder is a file called Setup.exe, Double left click your mouse on it
and let it install the Driver.
3. When the Driver says installation Complete, it will then need to reboot.
4. After Rebooting, Plug in your Cable to the Computer and the Camera, Turn the Camera on and
then open My Computer and look for a New Hard Drive in the icons.
5. Open it and inside the Folder in the new Hard Drive you will find your pictures that you may now Copy or Cut and Paste Into your Computer and use..

Cant get it right

Here's a couple things to try. It has an auto focus. This may require you to hold the camera's shutter button half way down to get the focus. Then press it all the way down to get the picture. Make sure the flash is working or that you have enough light. It's really hard to get a pic in the dark. Resolution may also be a problem. Resolution is how many pixels it takes to make a picture. Bump it up to the highest resolution on this cam. 2.11 Mega pixels If nothing else it will make prints look sharper. I hope this helps.

Digital Camera

switch off camera remove batteries and leave for an hour or so. Replace batteries wet it as if you are going to use the flask and hold it to your ear. Can you hear a high pitched whine. if yeas then you have a processor fault or flash lamp fault If no then the Flash charge unit has died. If it is still under warranty that is the way to go.
