Hi. You'll be better off downloading and installing the tryout for Adobe Indesign than PageMaker. InDesign is the improved version of PageMaker and it can open your old PM7 files. With your current PC specs, you can definitely run that software.
Pagemaker 7 will not readily allow Spell checking under Windows 7. To do this you will need to run the Pagemaker application as the Administrator. This can either be by clicking on the right hand mouse botton (right handed persons) while the cursor is on the Pagemaker launch icon either on the desktop, Windows Start up menu or Application Program launch menu and then choosing to run the Application as Administrator. Pagemake launched like this will normally allow spell checking, without the Pagemaker application will return distionary missing or does not support spelling. Disabling account control in Windows 7 before running the Pagemaker, which I do not recommend also achieves this in Windows 7. All the above applies for Windows Vista too!
