my model is the jed8430 jenn-air cooktop with downdraft

I just installed it and was going to check the suction of the fan and it came with a test card to check the ventalation power, just a paper card you put on the cooktop and it is suppose to cuck it down if there is enough suction. I don't even have all the ducting hooked up yet, just enough to get under the floor of the island.

    any help would be appriciated..

My Jenn-Air JED 8430 the burners are working fine but the downdraft fan is not pulling test card down, instead it is blowing air upward. I wonder what is the problem and how I solve it?

My vent fan, self-clean nor set-up buttons are working any longer. I depress the buttons, but I do not get a response as if they are no longer active. Everything else works on the stove (oven light, timers, etc.) I thought it could be a fuse, but reset the circuit breaker and it did not help. I have had the stove for over a year and it was working fine. Please help.

Whirlpool SC8720EDB cooktop stove independent vent switch is not starting downdraft exhaust fan, but the exhaust fan works fine when left side burners were turned on

Can you get to the switch terminals and try jumping them out with a piece of insulated wire? That would tell you if the switch is defective (my suspicion). Please be careful not to touch any live terminals - only the wire insulation you use for the jumper.

I used my grill for the first time, & the downdraft didn't work we'll, the house filled with smoke & eventually the downdraft shut off and I had to finish cooking in a pan. My Jenn-Air is...

The downdraft is electric so there must be something malfunctioning with it. It is a high volume downdraft fan that is to be vented to the outside. Could it be that something has clogged the vent hole up, not allowing the fan to evacuate the smoke?

While I am not a big fan of Jenn-Air, their fans are usually high quality if they are installed correctly, with the proper vent lines.

My new home already has a hood vent for the range. I have a gas Jenn air downdraft range. I prefer to use the hood vent as the downdraft is not very efficient. Do I have to connect the blower on my range...

The poupose of either is to eliminate any smoke created by the range or grille and move as much of the cooking odors to the outside. I wouldn't use both at the same time, but if the hood is vented to the outside, it would be just fine to use only the hood. Aregular cleaning will be necesssary. The downdraft has limits as to the distance it will efficiently exhaust air. Flex hose should not be used. And excessive bends or vent length, cuts into the efficiency.

Downdraft vent unit is stuck halfway.

You'll have to remove it and manually reverse the drive gear. Hopefully, it didn't get stripped.

Installing JED8230ADB Cooktop Grill with down-draft exhaust

I can't imagine directing the downdraft vent back up to a traditional hood type system. Why bother, just don't use the downdraft or get a cooktop without a down draft and save money.

In granite, yes for any cooktop as long as someone can cut the correct size hole. Cooktops must be installed so the top is just about flush with the countertop. They all come with a template for cutting the right size hole in the countertop.

Downdraft vent on jenn air cooktop

How do you get the inside area of the vent clean from the grease and oils where the filter is?? I have a rectangular box style downdraft that the vent goes into the floor, I pulled the filter, but the box is to slender to get an arm into to scrub the grease....... does the bottom come off, or is it a sealed unit? How do you get all the brease from the bottom if you cannot reach it?
