Question about Sanyo DS32920 32" TV

Plasma "sparklies" or "color bleeding" ??

HP PL4240N installed to both HD Cable Box and Progressive Scan DVD. After viewing for 45 minutes ( some times 2 hours ) there are small bright washed spots that appear in different corners of the Set. Both devices have monster quality cables. And they were replaced to verify quality. HP ran me thru the resets. No luck. Its warrantied but not worth the hassle if a trip to a quality repair shop can fix this easily. Some research says there is a issue with the power supply adjustment and the gases are getting over heated??

Any ideas?

Re: Plasma "sparklies" or "color bleeding" ??

It's possible that the plasma display is going bad but first the repairman must go into the set and reseat the ribbons that connect to the board where the ribbons goes to the panel or there are some potentiometers to adjust slightly to take the sparkles out

You can use a cable box providing that its HD option is working. With many of the cable companies, you have to pay to have the HD option in the cable box activated. Then you have to pay subscription for the HD channels. That is the way it is at where I am located. Without the HD subscription active on our cable boxes this feature is dead!

The only reliable way for you to know if the HD option works in your TV itself is to get a known to be working HD source such as an HD DVD player and try it out.

Jvc tv does not recognize toshiba dvd player sometimes....

Which cable type are you using (component, composite, HDMI...)? If it's composite (the white, red, yellow) it may be in "progressive scan" mode. Check the manual to see how to toggle betwixt the two.

Split screen from DVD player, cable is fine no problem

It is not clear where you say input is from cable, do you mean the Scart input to your Sony TV? Do not use Progressive scan(p), as this is not interlaced. The normal TV requires an interlaced(i) picture of 50 half frames per second giving 25 complete pictures per second to reduce flicker. Some TVs and projectors and all monitors accept Progressive scan.

Plasma TV color problem

Sometimes, poor picture quality occurs when having activated an A-VHS camera or camcorder connected and having connected another peripheral at the same time. In this case switch off one of the other peripherals. Also, The norcent has a known problem with progressive scan - when connected to a progressive scan source, it yields a distorted screen with dual images and messed up colors.
