ASUS A8N5X Motherboard SPDIF no sound

Hrm.... I have tried updating the MB bios, Nvidia drivers, windows update, and still cannot get any sound or let alone at "light" from my SPDIF port. I do have normal sound using my analog ports. I am trying to go from my SPDIF port to a receiver so I can play it on some home surround system.
I have the cable but nothing.
Any suggestions?

GuruAsus reports the same problem with for others updating your BIOS & they suggest you try this new link to BIOS 1003

Regaurding your trouble with the S/PDIF port, I found nothing in the FAQ section under the A8N5X. Suggest you call Asus Tech at 812-282-2787Tech IL Eastern time between 9:00am & 5:00pm. Your board is still warranted. Have handy the S/N printed on the serial port.
